Kauwae Moko
Kauwae is a wāhine facial marking covers the chin area, but can extend down and across the neck and across the face. Here are some examples of different Kauwae moko I have completed using uhi tā moko tools.

One of my first kauwae with a whanaunga from Rotorua, living near Wellington. My other wāhine whanaunga Piata was the tauawhi so a beautiful first time creating a special space for us all.

This ataahua wāhine had a relation mark her face, which is the first image. She wanted to extend as she didn’t feel like it was complete. Laura was the tauawhi and it was completed at my whare in Tamakī Makaurau. Another stunning day to create a welcoming and support space for all of us.

Rangipipi was celebrating her 60th birthday on reclaimed land new Tauranga. It was an awesome place; setting up on top of a hill overlooking the bush with no power, and no extra sounds polluting the mahi except whānau waiata and the building of the party structure for the evenings event. A roopū of wāhine wearers and tauawhi supported me and were keen to take on the knowledge of uhi.

Please respect these wāhine and do not copy the images and use them without my permission, Ngā Mihi – Thank you.
